The Civil Liability of the State in Compensating the Costs Arising from an Inflationary Economy with Emphasis on the Jurisprudential Principles of La Zarar and Justice and Equity

Inflation is one of the influential economic and social phenomena that some governments, which lack the ability to control it, sometimes describe as a structural issue. Although inflation is typically examined as a key variable in macroeconomics, in the absence of effective regulatory measures, it turns into a critical issue referred to as an "inflationary economy." The government plays a central role in either curbing or exacerbating inflation. Governmental actions, whether through legislation and regulation or through executive conduct, can give rise to an inflationary economy. The purpose of the present study is to investigate whether civil liability for compensating the costs resulting from an inflationary economy is conceivable under the jurisprudential principles of la zarar (no harm) and justice and equity. This study, conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and based on library resources, concludes that considering the government's role in Iran's economy and referring to the principles of la zarar, justice, and equity in Iranian law, the answer to the above question is affirmative.
